C0505 – Tolerating Failure
Warren’s a lot like me when it comes to failure. I don’t take it well at all!! In fact, I’m hard on myself even for little mistakes. It’s been my personal challenge for my first convention to accept 1) Mistakes are inevitable, 2) Mistakes do not make me a bad person, 3) Mistakes are excellent opportunities to learn new things, if you can roll with them. We’ll see how my Mistake Mantra works out!!
How do you view failure and mistakes?
Speaking of the convention…This will be the last time I pester y’all about this, I swear, but in case you’re in the Colorado area…

For those of you that can’t make it, but will be there in spirit, I have some exciting news!! I just got word that the bulk shipment of books, which has been on a boat from Hong Kong to California these past few weeks, has ARRIVED and is now on a train to my location. Should arrive in the next several days!! What does this mean?? That we will be ON SCHEDULE for a full ONLINE STORE in JULY!!

Warren and I are also similar.
His face is very well done– the emotion and anatomy details really show through.
I posed for the expression myself. Those will be fun photos to show to my kids.

I’m really digging the different style of storytelling with this chapter. It feels more cinematic.
My feelings of failure are summed up by Theodore Roosevelt in this quote:
“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.”

I’m digging the atmosphere of this chapter so far.
I’m glad you like it, I’ve been really nervous about it. I wanted to have a very sudden gear-shift here, both in content and tone. This is a very Warren-centric chapter, and he’s got a different vibe than the rest of the cast.
