C2P20 – Tamapa’O

When I was working on this I tried to imagine all the individual stories of the people in the crowd. My favorite’s the older couple that get in a fight over her buying something from a street vendor.

This page makes me want to swoon. Beautiful!
It made me want to swoon too, but for an entirely different reason! That crowd scene just about killed me! I need to develop better techniques for large groups, because this story is going to have a lot of them!
That is an excellent strategy. (Part of the reason I love old Dreamworks traditionally animated movies is because the crowd is never static–every person looks like they are really alive and aware, which is just awesome.)
Definitely! Crowds have character too! I always enjoy it when an artist makes their world feel alive, and backgrounds are a big part of that. I really enjoy Delila Dirk for this, and many other, reasons.
I bow in awe of your amazing city- and crowd-drawing skills. I have tried it before, it’s freaking hard! It’s my least favorite thing to draw, mainly because I get impatient, frustrated, then bored. This looks absolutely lovely, though
And I agree with Skysong, everybody looks so alive! It’s great!
I’ve always struggled with backgrounds, so I’m trying to challenge myself to do better. Still not 100% happy with current technique, but I’m glad it looks okay! Hopefully I will continue to improve!
