That’s one of the things I’ve always found fascinating about group dynamics. Get a crowd of about five or more, and suddenly everybody is waiting for somebody else to do something.

I remember a quote I really liked which was, to paraphrase, “What makes a hero is not courage, but the will to act.” Wish I could remember where that was from!

I know!! Isn’t it crazy how much can change in a relatively short time?? That wasn’t even that long ago!

The SF community is very welcoming and friendly. It’s very much a you-get-out-what-you-put-in kind of place, but the forum-folk are always willing to share knowledge and experiences. I’ve also gained a lot of great readers through SF members, and a lot of our work is in similar veins, so the cross-over is high. It could be a good fit! Can’t hurt to try!

Spider Forest is a community and link exchange. While they DO provide hosting, you can also have your own independent site. That means you can have as much control over your design as you choose, depending on who you go with. For example, I am self-hosted. I have 100% control over my design, as long as I have the small rotating ad bar at the top of the site. You could also have a free site on SmackJeeves, The Duck, ComicDish, etc. OR you could apply to have your work hosted on SF. I don't know the restrictions that might exist for the SF interface, but if you want to get into the nitty-gritty of that, I would contact RanJado, the Spiderforest admin & founder.

I guess I’m a little unclear about what Spider Forest does/is. I love what I’m reading about the community aspect and I’d like to submit my comic for review, but I also like my CMS and having complete control over my HTML/CSS and templates. (I’m a web designer by trade!) Is there room for me to get fiddly with my design in the SF interface?

I am definitely interested in applying to SF, I think. I’ve been wanting to get of ComicFury almost since I set up there, haha, and the community aspect sounds great! Thanks for the tip.
