Pro Tip: If your idea of “friendship” cannot accept that the other person gets to say “No,” then that ain’t friendship.

See also:  Family.

See also:  Just basic relationships because if you can’t respect that someone has a right to make choices and have desires independently of what you want, then that’s never going to be a relationship that is healthy.

So THERE, Vision.  You big, smothering, invasive jerk.

Vision, if you can’t even keep yourself from being on fire in someone’s library, then you are automatically not a good friend. Never mind the ignorance of boundaries.

….I have an out of context quote of the day thing going on my facebook for my friends, may I please use “If you can’t keep yourself from being on fire in someone’s library, then you are automatically not a good friend” as one if I attribute it to your username (SkysongMA)?

I struggle at saying “no” because every time I have before, it has ended badly. I would be the bad guy and would have to apologize for setting the boundary in the first place. I have it now where I have boundaries with my friends, however my family is another story all together. Nothing I can do until I have paid them off.

In my experience, healthy relationships thrive when boundaries are safe to express and are respected when they are. Sadly, some people view “family” as an excuse to abuse, rather than protect, healthy boundary management. And it’s rough every time it happens.
