Sorry for the late update folks! Yesterday was a really exhausting day and I totally forgot to update at my usual time in the evening.
Ever since we moved into our house six years ago, we’ve had a great big juniper outside our door. It looked like this when we moved in:
Then it grew, and grew, and soon was just visible from the door…and then, this year’s spring snow hit:
This was what my view from the front door looked like in April. We thought maybe the juniper would bend back after a little bit…but then a SECOND spring snow hit, with more heavy, wet snow, and it became clear that this juniper wasn’t going to get a miraculous resurrection. I regret not taking a photo of it, because it looked like some sort of monster had burst forth from the inside of that juniper to rampage about the countryside.
Needless to say, the HOA did not like the look of our juniper. So we had to take it down.
I truly thought this would be the effort of two people for roughly an hour. I had absolutely no idea that it would become the work of four people (Cory’s folks kindly came by to help us) and FIVE hours, a dozen trash-bags full of debris with about 3-4 bags yet unfilled, before we’d get rained out and have to retire the effort mostly-finished.
I also did not anticipate the massive sun-burn and minor sun-stroke.
So that’s my excuse for not updating last night: I attempted to kill a juniper, and it did its best to kill me back.
That seems fair, right?
Have you ever undertaken something that you thought would be simple, only to discover you were in for a lot more than you bargained for?
