Una has no pity for Pakku’s predicament. No pity at all. That’s okay. Pakku is equally merciless, in his own way.
Cory and I had our monthly planning meeting yesterday. A big part of what we talked about was preparing to launch an IndieGoGo for our newest project, which we’ve been working on behind the scenes for years. Cory is the head writer, I’m co-writer, and for the artwork we’re working with a lot of AMAZING and WONDERFUL artists! It’s going to be SO GOOD and I am SO EXCITED for it!
I’ve been putting together some prints for the campaign, utilizing artwork we already have from the comic. Here’s two, the inks for which were done by Jonas McCluggage, and the colors by me:
About the Story: “Wavemen” is a historical fantasy set in Heian Japan about a team of legendary heroes tasked by the Emperor with solving supernatural crime.
Momotaro, the newest member of the team, struggles to reconcile being a hero with the horror that he faced on Oni Island. He has a lot to live up to, serving with Princess Kaguya, Issun-boshi, Kintoki, and Fujiwara no Kamiko, daughter of Chancellor Motosune himself! Even Emperor Yozei seems to think that Momotaro will live up to his legend, but will they still want him on the team once they learn the truth about what he’s done?
We’re planning on launching the crowd-funding campaign on April 4th! I talk more about it, and my FEEEELS, in this week’s $1/mo Patreon Vlog, which is open to everyone since it’s the first of the month. You can watch it here:
And finally, if you’d like to check out the work of all the amazing artists we’re working with so far, their info is below!
– Jonas McCluggage will be doing the cover of Episode One, and also did the Oni King segments of the interior (some of which were made into the prints I showed you today!). He has several fantastic comics of his own, including “The Adventures of Jonas” (completed) and “Follow the Leader” (ongoing).
– Khavy Tran will be Episode Two’s interior artist, bringing life and energy to the ghouls of the House on Fifth Avenue, and the unconventional adventures of Emperor Yozei and his unwilling partner in ghost-hunting, Momo. Her portfolio is here.
I WILL DO MY BEST NOT TO BE TOO OBNOXIOUS ABOUT THIS PROJECT, BUT OH MY GOSH IT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING AND EVERYONE IS SO GREAT TO WORK WITH THAT I CAN HARDLY STAND IT! So I appreciate your patience and understanding in the months to come, especially in April. 🙂
