Kali inherited both my stubbornness and my difficulty in sharing feelings. “Nothing” can be an incredibly poisonous word in any relationship. In this case, Tama’s very used to dealing with “Nothing”s that are inevitably somethings. It’s a tendency Mizha, Kali, and Zhiro share. Probably why Diamond Eyes takes on Tama’s face. He sees through “Nothing” pretty quickly.

News update on the Career Change! Video below, with transcript for those of you that can’t watch the video. SO MUCH GOING ON RIGHT NOW I THINK THIS IS WHAT GOING CRAZY(ER) FEELS LIKE.

Greetings, LeyLians! A news update for you all on what’s been happening since I announced my upcoming career change. Here’s what’s happened since the end of July:

I’ve accepted a job as a paraprofessional at a local elementary school. Remember how back in April I was giving presentations to an amazing group of fourth graders? Apparently I made a good impression on the teachers there, as they put in a good word for me when I applied! I’m really excited to work more with kids, and learn more about the school system.

This will be a part-time job. The good news is that gives me time to keep working on Moko Press projects, like LeyLines. The bad news is that my income is dropping to one-fifth of what I have been living on. With Cory’s job, we’ll be able to pay the mortgage, keep the lights on, and buy groceries…but that’s it. So I will also be expanding my small business services in a variety of directions. The big things I’m looking at right now are developmental editing, workshops, online courses, and illustration. More on all of those things as I try things out. The one I’m focusing on right now is developmental editing. I’ll be talking about those services more in the near future. If you’re at Intervention, the internet convention in Maryland this weekend, I’d love to talk to you about what I’ll be offering there as well. Or about anything, really, as I’m really excited to meet more east coast LeyLians!

So to summarize, this is what my schedule for the next few weeks looks like:

TODAY: Last day of work at my old job.
TOMORROW: Get on a plane to Maryland
THE WEEKEND: Intervention! My table is number 32, next to Liz Staley of Adrastus! I’ll also be on two panels with Pete Abrams of Sluggy Freelance and Eren Fitzgerald and Chezhnian of Tamuran. One panel will be about writing fantasy stories, and the other on creating well-rounded characters. I’m staying with Eric Menge from Snow by Night, who has been incredibly generous in offering his home and company so I’m not totally lost out there. So you should totally go check out his comic as it is pretty dang great!
NEXT WEEK: Getting my life in order. Possibly getting the marriage thing.

It’s gonna be a whirlwind. Frankly, everything seems a little unreal right now. There’s so much going on, and so many new things that I’ve never done before. This will be my first out of state convention, first time in Maryland, brand new job…It’s a lot. I really appreciate how patient and supportive everyone has been. I hope you’ve been enjoying the Friday blogs, and if there’s any topics you’d like me to discuss, please let me know.

Thank you for sticking with me in this crazy time! And an added thanks to anyone that’s been voting for LeyLines in the TGT Tournament right now. It would be amazing to win a spot on Kurt’s podcast line-up to talk about everything that I’m working on! If you have a minute to cast your vote, please do! Votes can be made once a day, and every vote can make a big difference!

That’s all in Robin News. I’ll keep you posted as things develop!

Lovely page as always. Tama’s squint-eye is fantastic. XD

Looking forward to meeting you at Intervention and coming to the panels! I’ll certainly stop by your table sometime this weekend, at least to purchase some books.

Hope you have a safe flight! And of course lots of luck in the future!

I know this happened over a year ago, but in case you needed a pick-me-up, congratulations for finally taking a step in a direction towards what you really love and care about.
